Our Teaching System
The DanceFix Syllabus - the best of the best
Surprisingly, unlike competition dancing (DanceSport) there is
no standardised set of steps or accreditation program for Social Freestyle Partner dancing.
Real life social dancing is quite different to the performances we see on TV or at competitions. It requires a lot of spontaneity and adaptability - depending much more on practical partnership skills than on performance and technique.
Social environments are unpredictable, spontaneous & creative environments, so it is no surprise that new variations on old moves are developed all the time!
Most studios train instructors in their own syllabus & award bronze, silver and gold standards via internal examinations. The standards of difficulty and the rigor of training & examination processes vary widely across different studios as do the steps taught.

Based on 30 years experience with various studios & instructors across Australia, the DanceFix syllabus includes what we think are the best of the best steps in each of the 14 dances that we teach.
Our syllabus remains faithful to the traditional patterns, personality, signature movements, styles & techniques generally associated with each of the dances.
However, we have selected and tailored steps that are
practical to lead & follow, can be danced on small dance floors & to a variety of music.
There is a Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced level of steps in each dance syllabus.
There are 10 beginner level short courses offered throughout the year.
Each course goes for 3 weeks.
They are standalone and can be taken in any order.
Each course focuses on a different 3-4 steps in the beginner syllabus.
Different Learning Styles
Students can learn privately, socially in groups or via a combination of the two.

Private lessons & workshops offer more insight into the technical & styling aspects of each dance.

Parties, Dinner Dances & Sunday Socials provide plenty of opportunities to practice & mingle.
