Frequently Asked Questions

Megan n Dom PJs 2.JPG

What should we wear?

Our dress code for classes is very casual...

Students mostly wear cool casual clothes or active wear to class

(& apparently sometimes pyjamas lol).

Some students enjoy getting dressed up & road testing their going out dance wear.

As long as you are cool & comfortable :)

Some things to think about...

Can I bend over, lean back, stretch my arms out & take big steps forward & back without falling out of, continually adjusting, or stepping on my clothes?

Will I be comfortable in close dance position with exposed upper arms given likely skin to skin contact or would I feel better with short sleeves?

Am I likely to get really hot & sweaty (its latin after all) & should I bring a spare t-shirt just in case?

Is my hairstyle likely to give my partner a mouthful of ponytail or slap in the face mid spin?

Did I overdo the perfume or aftershave?

What should we bring?

A smile, a sense of humour, lots of patience & possibly mints & deodorant.

Oh & chocolate or possibly gin & tonic for the teacher ;)

Do we need to bring a partner?

Generally, no you can come solo or with a friend.

All classes are mixed except for LatinFit which is for ladies only.

We are a couple - will you make us swap partners?

No we don't swap couples around as we know you came to learn to dance together.

What shoes do we wear?

We suggest you consider:

Comfyness

Blisters & sore feet do not make dancing fun

Stayonyourfootness

Its great if your shoes do not conduct independent dance moves

Slippystickyness

Slippery enough soles so that spinning does not require an ankle, knee or hip replacement but enough traction to stay upright.

Hotsweatyness

 mmmhmmmm

Notsosexytbutpracticalness

Save your favourite heels with blow my mind bling for parties & outings.

We are easily distracted by shiny objects so for an optimal teaching experience

consider socks, flatish jazz trainers or small heels for class.

Ladies: We usually have these trainers on hand for only $20 !!!

Dance sneakers are great (we recommend Bloch)

Steel capped boots & ugg boots should not be discounted given they score a strong 3/5 on the above criteria

Thongs make the dance teacher a little crae crae

Why spend over $150 on dance shoes when you can glue a piece of carpet (furry side out of course) to the soles of your current faves

The reason left & right feet are so difficult to distinguish is that we insist on wearing matching footwear. Try different colours or just print L & R on them.

Business socks/shoes with board shorts are a seamless day/night transition outfit.
